Dr. Robert Yeilding

Dr. Yeilding is a licensed clinical psychologist with over 15 years of experience integrating Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness, and compassion-based strategies. Dr. Yeilding empowers individuals to build the skills and self-understanding needed to create lasting change. Recognizing the profound impact of sleep on mental well-being, he also offers specialized support through his advanced training in CBT for Insomnia (CBT-I).

His approach is collaborative, warm, and solution focused — he believes therapy works best as a genuine partnership. As a board member and prior co-chair for the National Social Anxiety Center, Dr. Yeilding also actively contributes to advancing evidence-based care for social anxiety in the broader community.

Education Background

Dr. Yeilding received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from UCLA, and Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from CSPP at Alliant International University, Los Angeles.

He is certified in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy as a diplomate of the Academy of Cognitive- Behavioral Therapies.

He has participated in training at the Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavior Therapy.

He has received advanced training in CBT for Insomnia (CBTi) from the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Yeilding participated in training in Mindfulness-Based Eating Awareness Training (MB-EAT) at the Esalen Institute, designed to apply mindfulness skills to foster a healthy relationship to food and eating.

Professional Experience

Dr. Yeilding also serves as a clinical psychologist at the UCLA Insomnia Clinic, specializing in delivering CBT for Insomnia (CBTi) to individuals struggling with sleep challenges.

He also served as a clinical instructor in the Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, providing supervision and training in CBT and evidence-based approaches.

Additionally, Dr. Yeilding currently serves as a board member and was a prior co-chair for the National Social Anxiety Center, further developing his expertise and contributing to NSAC's mission of fostering evidence-based care of social anxiety.

Dr. Yeilding works with both adults and adolescents, in-person in Irvine, CA and via telehealth throughout California.
